Field Placements for Pre-Service Teachers

In fall 2017, 16 pre-service teachers from the Faculty of Education at Memorial University participated in the pilot for a new program for pre-service teachers, the Hibernia Teaching Fellowships in Ocean Sciences and Technology. Paid field placements are offered at one of five science and marine centres. Here is what one of the Fellows said about the experience:

“Before this program I never really looked at field trips as an integral part of a high school curriculum, I gained a plethora of knowledge and skills that I’m excited to utilize in the future as a teacher.”
– Cameron Pye, 2017 Hibernia Teaching Fellow Field Placement at Manuels River Hibernia Interpretation Centre
